TF Sport, Dempsey Proton continue GTE Am programs in 2019-20

British team TF Sport and Dempsey Proton Racing are set to continue racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship’s GTE Am class next season.

Dempsey Proton Racing confirmed during a two-day pre-Le Mans test at Spa that it has entered a pair of Porsche 911 RSRs into the WEC for next season. Team boss Christian Ried said that the team will continue under the (Patrick) Dempsey Proton Racing banner and that he will be one of the drivers. As it stands Ried is the only ever-present driver left in the FIA WEC since its inaugural season in 2012.

“We will return with two cars in the FIA WEC — it’s a similar program to the current season,” said Ried, whose team won the GTE Am class at Le Mans last year. “We look forward to it.

“Our driver line-ups are not confirmed, all we know is that I will be in one of the cars. We hope that the GTE Am class will stay at such a high level. It’s been really fun this year.”

TF Sport’s program will continue its debut campaign with the old-spec Vantage in the current ‘Super Season’. Further details, including its driver line-up, will follow in due course. The team has confirmed, though, that it will race with a brand-new Vantage GTE in 2019-20, the first season in which the car is eligible to compete in GTE Am.

Currently, both Salih Yoluc and Charlie Eastwood have been driving with the team full-time in the FIA WEC, the third seat filled by a combination of AMR factory driver Jonny Adam and Euan Hankey during the year.

“It has always been our intention to continue in the FIA World Endurance Championship and we have worked hard behind the scenes to ensure that we remain at the highest level of GT racing,” said team director Tom Ferrier. “We have high hopes that our entry will be accepted and that we can return to Silverstone in the new Aston Martin Vantage GTE.”
