Daniel Hemric led a Chevrolet 1-2-3 in Friday’s NASCAR Cup Series practice at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Hemric was fastest at 182.791 mph (29.542 seconds). Hendrick Motorsports teammates Chase Elliott and William Byron followed with Elliott running 182.340 mph and Byron’s quickest lap being 182.211 mph.
Completing the top five were Kyle Busch — the defending Coca-Cola 600 race winner — at 182.168 mph, and Jimmie Johnson at 182.008 mph.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (181.996 mph), Alex Bowman (181.922 mph), Austin Dillon (181.892 mph), Clint Bowyer (181.861 mph), and Martin Truex Jr. (181.861 mph) made up the remainder of the top 10.
Landon Cassill ran 37 laps in the session which was the most of any driver.
There were no incidents in practice, and all 40 drivers entered in the Coca-Cola 600 spent time on track.
