JDL Racing, a Texas-based open-wheel development team, will make its Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires debut at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 10-11 with driver Jacob Loomis.

“Although we are in our infancy, we are hoping to hit the ground running and be recognized as a competitive top-level open wheel racing team on and off the track. We aim to build our Indy Pro 2000 team based upon our strong foundation,” stated JDL Racing team principal, Jim Loomis.

Jacob Loomis, 19, will begin a new chapter in his racing career behind the wheel of the No. 9 Optima Anesthesia powered Indy Pro 2000 and is excited to compete at the Speedway: “This represents a major step forward in my career and toward my dream of winning an Indy 500. We are eager to put our small-town team’s effort to the test, and are ready to show that a lofty budget and a lavish team aren’t always necessary to take that next step in climbing the Road to Indy ladder.

“I love racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, enjoyed success in F4, and am hopeful of continuing the streak”.

Loomis enters the newly branded Indy Pro 2000 Championship on the heels of two seasons in the FIA F4 US Championship series where he earned several podium finishes. In 2016, he dominated the SCCA’s Formula Mazda series with multiple poles, victories and track records.

While chasing his dream in the second step of the Road to Indy, Loomis is juggling multiple demands as an aviator and a full-time college student studying aviation technology. While not on the track or flying, he works as a driver coach, performing data acquisition, and as a mechanic for drivers in a variety of car and kart series.
