Team Penske continued to flex its muscle at ISM Raceway, but, in the final NASCAR Cup Series practice on Saturday afternoon, it was Joey Logano atop the leaderboard.
Logano’s No. 22 Ford was fastest in the session at 137.794 mph, with teammate (and polewinner) Ryan Blaney second fastest at 137.221 mph. Fellow Ford driver Kevin Harvick was third quick at 136.685 mph.
Rounding out the top five were Kyle Busch (136.431 mph) and Aric Almirola (136.322 mph).
Sixth fastest was a third Penske team member, Brad Keselowski (136.255 mph), who served a 15-minute practice penalty in the session after his car failed pre-qualifying inspection Friday evening.
Completing the top 10 were Jimmie Johnson (136.304), Kurt Busch (136.152), Austin Dillon (136.096), and Clint Bowyer (136.065 mph).
Other drivers serving 15min penalties in this session for being late to inspection included Paul Menard, William Byron, Corey LaJoie, Michael McDowell, David Ragan, and Bayley Currey.
The No. 51 team of Cody Ware also had a 15-minute penalty, but the team did not participate in final practice.
There were no significant incidents in the 50-minute session although caution was displayed early for fluid that was laid down by the No. 15 of Ross Chastain.
