Amy Ruman will be back in action this weekend in the 2019 Trans Am Championship Presented by Pirelli season opener at Sebring International Raceway. Ruman and team closed out the 2018 year with a third-place finish at Daytona. The two-time TA class champion placed fifth overall in the chase for the Trigon trophy.
In her quest for her third Trans Am title in 2019, Ruman will once again be backed by longtime sponsor, McNICHOLS CO., an Industrial and Architectural Hole Product Solutions company. The agreement will mark a 17-year consecutive run of partnership between the two entities. “We are delighted to be back again with Amy and the team for another year of electrifying Trans Am competition. Trans Am makes for some of the best racing in the business and we are proud and excited to watch Amy go after the TA title carrying the McNichols banner on the red No. 23 McNichols Co. Corvette! We are looking forward to a great year.” exclaimed Gene McNichols, Chairman and CEO of McNichols Co.
“First let me start by thanking McNichols Co. for their unwavering support. We are so blessed to have them aboard again. 2018 didn’t turn out as expected, but we are ready for 2019. Bob and the team have been working diligently all winter on the No. 23 and I’m eager to get back out there for some competitive racing. Sebring is always a fantastic venue to open the season with, the fans are phenomenal, and the track is iconic. My goal this year is to be focused and to have consistent top finishes at every race, I’m looking forward to a great season,” remarked Ruman.
Sixty-one competitors are entered across all classes for the Sebring opener at the 3.7-mile road course, with 18 running in Ruman’s TA class. Testing, practices, and qualifying will take place Friday and Saturday. The TA2 race Powered by AEM will be Sunday, March 3 at 11:10 a.m. ET followed by the Trans Am TA/SGT/GT race at 3:25 p.m. ET. Both races are 100.98 miles/27-laps.
