Aric Almirola paced the first race practice of the weekend at Kansas Speedway with a lap of 186.683 mph Saturday morning.
Erik Jones (186.599mph), Martin Truex Jr. (186.355mph), Clint Bowyer (186.303mph), and Kyle Busch (186.252mph) were the rest of the top five.
Completing the top 10 were Kyle Larson (185.752mph), Ryan Newman (185.637mph), Ryan Blaney (185.573mph), Alex Bowman (185.567mph), and Joey Logano (185.548mph). Logano won the pole for the Hollywood Casino 400 on Friday night.
Slated for 50 minutes, NASCAR extended the session by five minutes following clean-up for a Jamie McMurray incident. The No. 1 Chevrolet had an engine issue and oiled down part of the speedway. An engine change is expected to move McMurray to the back of the field for tomorrow’s race.
UP NEXT: final practice at 1:05 p.m. ET.
