Kyle Busch among four to start Richmond from the rear

Four drivers will start from the rear of the field at Richmond Raceway for the Federated Auto Parts 400.

Following Cup Series qualifying Friday night, cars were impounded by NASCAR, and the post-qualifying inspection process took place Saturday afternoon.

Playoff contender Kyle Busch will start from the rear for unapproved adjustments. Although Busch made the final round of qualifying and officially clocked in 12th, his No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing team elected to fix right-front fender damage that Busch sustained. Busch will drop to the rear of the field on the pace laps.

The vehicles of Daniel Suarez, David Ragan, and Regan Smith failed inspection on their first trips through inspection.

As a result, all three drivers had their qualifying times disallowed.

Suarez had posted the fifth fastest time, Ragan 27th and Smith 33rd. The cars passed inspection on their second time through.

The green flag for the second race in the first round of the playoffs will wave at 7:33 p.m. ET.
