Four races to go.
Chase Elliott won race No. 22 of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season, and since he was already sitting securely on the playoff grid, it means not much changed after Watkins Glen. Elliott jumps up the playoff grid with his win and stage points, while the points gap for all the drivers without a win again increased on the cutline.
Jimmie Johnson was the only driver to lose points, but it was a meek five as he still holds a comfortable advantage on the cutline. Alex Bowman is holding onto the final spot, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is still the first man out.
It’s now down to Michigan, Bristol, Darlington, and Indianapolis to finish the regular season.
