A busy day for IMSA’s WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at Lime Rock Park produced its third set of different GT Le Mans and GT Daytona class leaders.
Rounding out the third and final session of the day for the GT-only Northeast Grand Prix, Porsche GT Team’s Patrick Pilet (0:50.414s) took charge in his Porsche 911 RSR ahead of Ford Chip Ganassi Racing’s Dirk Muller, who was a considerable distance behind in his Ford GT (+0.465s).
With Corvettes, Fords, and Porsches claiming the top three in the morning and early afternoon, BMW Team RLL’s Jesse Krohn was a welcome addition to the competitive mix as his BMW M8 GTLM (+0.520s) took third in GTLM.
GTD went in the opposite direction as a third different leader emerged on Friday. Wright Motorsports’ Patrick Long delivered the fastest lap in his Porsche 911 GT3 R (0:51.754s) as both Meyer Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3s of Lawson Aschenbach (+0.297s) championship contender Katherine Legge (+0.382s) followed.
The biggest news of the day with the fire-damaged Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 was met with a positive conclusion as the team, after missing the second session, was able to repair the car and get Madison Snow out in the car. The young American placed sixth in GTD ahead of tomorrow morning’s qualifying session.
