Kyle Busch starts fast in NHMS practice

Kyle Busch was fastest in the opening practice session at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series has just one practice scheduled for Friday and Busch topped the 50-minute session with a lap of 134.292mph. Busch is the most recent winner at New Hampshire with a victory at the 1-mile facility last fall.

Kyle Larson was second-fastest at 133.788mph. Denny Hamlin (133.759mph), Erik Jones (133.628mph) and Ryan Blaney (133.469mph) completed the top five.

Hamlin is the defending winner of this race.

Rounding out the top 10 were Jimmie Johnson (133.352mph), Kevin Harvick (133.329mph), Alex Bowman (133.296mph), Martin Truex Jr. (133.189mph), and Kurt Busch (133.100mph).

There was one incident during the session as David Ragan brought out a brief caution when he hit the wall in Turn 3. Ragan was left with a scrape on the right side of his No. 38 Ford.

Joey Logano (15th fastest) and Chris Buescher (26th fastest) ran the most laps in the session, 20.
