Larson leads opening Kentucky practice

Kyle Larson paced opening Monster Energy Series practice at Kentucky Speedway with a lap of 185.867mph.

Ryan Blaney was second fastest at 184.653mph. Blaney’s Team Penske teammate Joey Logano was third quick at 184.300mph. Completing the top five were the Toyota’s of Kyle Busch at 183.955mph and Martin Truex Jr. at 183.892mph.

Busch won the pole for this race last season. Truex is the defending race winner at Kentucky.

Three-time Kentucky winner Brad Keselowski was sixth fastest at 183.780mph. Next came Jamie McMurray (183.536mph), new Cup Series winner Erik Jones (183.455mph), Paul Menard (183.399mph), and Daniel Suarez (183.362mph).

The first of two 50-minute sessions scheduled for Friday had no issues. Jones ran the most laps in the session, 36.
