Larson leads morning Bristol practice

Kyle Larson ran the most laps in Saturday morning’s practice session at Bristol as he topped the speed chart.

The Chip Ganassi Racing driver laid down 70 laps during the 55-minute session. He was fastest over Martin Truex Jr. with a lap of 129.004mph. Truex clocked in at 128.952mph. Completing the top five were Aric Almirola (128.943mph), polesitter Kyle Busch (128.943) and Kasey Kahne (128.830mph).

The remainder of the top 10 were David Ragan (128.796mph), Joey Logano (128.718mph), Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (128.666mph), Jimmie Johnson (128.563mph), and Chase Elliott (128.503mph).

Johnson is the defending race winner and will start at the rear of the field after suffering a cut tire during qualifying. The No. 48 had earned the 17th starting spot.

Kevin Harvick ran 37 laps in his backup car after crashing in Friday’s practice session. Harvick was 16th fastest in the session at 128.134mph.

There were no incidents in the session.

Erik Jones topped the best 10 consecutive lap average over Kurt Busch, David Ragan, Chase Elliott, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Darrell Wallace Jr.
