Bristol Cup start moved up one hour

NASCAR has announced the start time of Sunday’s Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway has been moved up one hour, to 1 p.m. ET, due to concerns over weather.

Rain and thunderstorms are expected to hit the Bristol area throughout Sunday. The original green flag time for the eighth race of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season was slated for 2:13 p.m. ET.

Kyle Busch and older brother Kurt Busch will make up the front row when the race begins. The two have a combined 11 Bristol wins.

Jimmie Johnson is the defending race winner and will start at the rear of the field. Johnson had qualified 17th best but his No. 48 Chevrolet was found to have a cut tire, and when the team makes the tire change he will negate his starting spot.

Kevin Harvick will also start at the rear of the field in a backup car after crashing in practice Friday morning.

Last year, this race was run on Monday because of rain.
