The No. 78 topped the first of two scheduled practices Saturday morning with a speed of 95.752mph. Truex was also fastest in the best 10 consecutive lap average.

Defending race winner Brad Keselowski was second fastest in practice at 95.646mph. Former Martinsville winners Kyle Busch (95.213mph), Ryan Newman (95.199mph), and Kurt Busch (95.094mph) completed the top five.

Keselowski and Kyle Busch are two of the hottest drivers at Martinsville. The two drivers swept last year’s races and enter this weekend working on top-five streaks. In his last five races, Busch has finished no worse than fifth with two wins. Keselowski has four straight top-five finishes and one victory.
