Kyle Larson was fastest in the only Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice at Las Vegas Motor Speedway slated for Friday.

The No.42 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevy laid down a lap of 190.658 mph to top the board over Kevin Harvick, who clocked in at 190.409 mph. Harvick is coming off a win last weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The rest of the top five were Paul Menard at 190.369 mph, Las Vegas native Kyle Busch at 190.342 mph, and rookie William Byron at 190.282 mph. Busch is a former winner at Las Vegas, winning his home race in 2009.

Rounding out the top 10 were Erik Jones (190.127 mph), Brad Keselowski (189.440 mph), Ryan Blaney (189.354 mph), Chase Elliott (189.195 mph) and Denny Hamlin (189.162 mph).

Defending race winner Martin Truex Jr. was 11th fastest in the session.

Five teams were docked 15 minutes of practice for failing pre-race inspection twice last weekend at Atlanta: Jeffrey Earnhardt, Elliott, Hamlin, Kyle Busch, and Alex Bowman.

There were no incidents in the 55-minute session.
