Allmendinger crashes as Keselowski paces MIS practice

Brad Keselowski was fastest in final Cup Series practice at Michigan International Speedway while AJ Allmendinger crashed in the final minute of the session.

Allmendinger will go to a backup car after his No. 47 Chevrolet hit the Turn 2 wall, causing heavy damage to the right side and right rear. He was 28th fastest on the board.

As for Keselowski, who is looking for his first victory at his home track, his quick lap was 197.401 mph. Kyle Busch was second fastest at 197.195 mph with Sunday's pole-sitter, Kyle Larson, clocking in third fastest at 197.061 mph.

Joey Logano was fourth fastest at 196.969 mph with Erik Jones rounding out the top five at 196.953 mph.

The rest of the top 10 were Daniel Suarez at 196.694 mph; Martin Truex Jr. at 196.609 mph; Clint Bowyer at 196.480 mph; Jimmie Johnson at 196.260 mph; and Denny Hamlin at 196.244 mph.

Johnson spent the session breaking in his backup car after he crashed in the morning session. He will have to start at the rear of the field.
