IndyCar: Hunter-Reay tops final Mid-Ohio practice

Ryan Hunter-Reay posted the fastest lap in Sunday morning’s warmup for the Honda Indy 200 – and then crashed hard in Turn 1.

The 2013 Verizon IndyCar champion escaped injury but caved in the right-rear suspension on his DHL Honda after turning a lap of 1m06.516s. It should be ready for the 2:00pm ET start.

Helio Castroneves turned the second-quickest lap of 1.06.847s in the HItachi Chevy, followed by Jack Hawksworth at 1m06.855s in the ABC Supply Honda. Hawksworth hit the tires in the last turn to red flag the session but only damaged the nose cone. Simon Pagenaud, who starts 15th, was fourth fastest at 1:06.862 in the PPG Chevy.
