GP3 racer Richie Stanaway will return to the Formula Renault 3.5 series this weekend at Spa in place of the injured Matthieu Vaxiviere.
Vaxiviere has been ruled out of action for the next two FR3.5 events and the Le Mans 24 Hours as a result of a back injury sustained during the Monaco race last weekend, and the Lotus (Gravity-Charouz) team has recalled its former driver to take his place.
Stanaway said on Twitter: “On my way to Spa for FR3.5 this weekend with Lotus. Great to have another chance in the series, looking forward to it.”
This weekend marks two years since Stanaway’s open-wheel career was put on hold when he suffered back injuries of his own in the Spa FR3.5 round, driving for the same Lotus-backed team that he will return with.
