Entertainer Jay Leno has tested Mini’s Dakar-winning All4 Racing in Death Valley, Calif.
The 63-year-old was driven by this year’s Dakar winner Nani Roma before the Spaniard handed the controls over to self-confessed car addict Leno for a run through the dunes.
On emerging from the Mini, Leno said: “It’s more fun driving than being a passenger! The suspension in the car is massive, we’ve climbed dunes the size of the Empire State Building and you never know what’s on the other side of those dunes.
“I can’t imagine 12 hours of that… you’re like a fighter in the car: you’re being pounded in the kidneys, pounded in the back.
“The Mini has so much torque. Horsepower sells cars, but torque wins races and the Mini has it in spades. You don’t get more fun than that!”
