The Action Express Racing team’s No. 5 Corvette Daytona Prototype picked up where it left off Thursday afternoon, with Sebastien Bourdais posting the fastest lap of the 2.5-hour test IMSA session Friday morning at Sebring.
AXR’s 1:52.488 was just 0.008 shy of the 1:52.480 set late yesterday, and the gap to the second-place No. 42 Morgan-Nissan P2 was also virtually identical to Thursday, coming in 0.742 ahead of the 1:53.230 set by the Oak Racing entry.
Muscle Milk Pickett Racing’s ORECA-Nissan P2 was third, 1.099 seconds off of the AXR DP with a 1:53.587.
Starworks Motorsport’s twin-turbo Riley-Honda DP turned an additional 26 laps, improving its time to a 1:57.910.
Bar1 Motorsports’ No. 88 PC car (1:56.942) moved to the top of the class while 8Star Motorsports, which led both sessions on Thursday in the No. 25, settle for second (1:57.211). (Starworks Motorsport claimed third in PC (1:58.883).
Porsche’s dominance of the GT Le Mans class extended into its third straight test session, with the No. 912 (2:00.041) leading its sister No. 911 (2:00.106). Corvette Racing was third (2:00.643), albeit 0.602 second behind the fastest Porsche.
Park Place Motorsports’ No. 73 Porsche 911 GT America finished first in GT Daytona (2:04.289), edging the No. 51 Spirit of Race Ferrari 458 (2:04.529) and Turner Motorsport’s No. 94 BMW Z4 (2:04.820).
One more session is left to run before the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship cars complete the two-day test.
