Promising box office start for "Rush"

“Rush,” the new Formula 1-based feature film from director Ron Howard, is off to a promising start at the box office. For the opening weekend of its nationwide theatrical run, “Rush” earned $10,314,000 and ranked third nationally behind the animated sequel “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2” ($35,000,000) and kidnapping drama “Prisoners” ($11,270,000), according to data compiled by BoxOfficeMojo.com.

After a limited release on Sept. 20, “Rush” hit theaters nationwide last Friday.
