Giuseppe Risi’s championship-winning American Le Mans Series GT program suffered a setback after ebbing drawn into the big crash that destroyed multiple chassis at Baltimore earlier this month, but the Houston-based Ferrari entrant is poised to have the No. 62 F458 on track this weekend for a shakedown at Circuit of The Americas, site of the next ALMS race.
“We’re fixing the car right now,” said Risi Competizione engineer Rick Mayer. “We didn’t have to change the tub like some of the other teams, but there has been a whole bunch of welding going on to fix the chassis. Pretty much everything that was needed to be replaced or fixed has been carried out. Everything’s being painted right now.”
