IndyCar places Vautier on probation

By

IndyCar rookie Tristan Vautier has been fined $10,000 and placed on probation until the end of the season for his involvement in an accident during qualifying in Baltimore on Saturday.

The Schmidt driver ran into the back of the car that had been crashed moments earlier by Graham Rahal, despite yellow flags being on display at the approach to that section of the track.

IndyCar officials determined that Vautier breached Rule 9.3.1.1, which refers to “engaging in reckless, careless, and/or overly aggressive actions or unsportsmanlike behavior toward other members,” as well as Rule 7.2.2.1.b, which outlines the requirement to observe yellow flags.
