Mario Andretti retired from Indy car racing after the 1994 CART season but, at age 73, he clearly still feels the competitive urge. Andretti, who regularly drives the IndyCar two-seater at IZOD IndyCar Series events, told FOX Sports he’d like to run an endurance sports car race like the Rolex 24 at Daytona or 24 Hours of Le Mans with son Michael (also retired) and grandson Marco (with Mario, ABOVE), if the right situation presented itself.
“Marco would do it. Michael doesn’t want to do it,” Mario told FOX. “He’s much younger than I am and he says he’s too old. You figure that out. But if I can convince Michael to do it, I’ll do it. I would. I still have the competitive spirit, which is good.”
